EDIT: So, apparently Ramy has made a journal explaining his and Amuria's side of the situation. Even if they didn't get as many tables as the "rumours" claim, there was still some dishonesty going on, and there's enough people who were at the con that can testify that. I'm not even bringing up Encyclopedia Dramatica since not everyone would count that as evidence. Anyway, my opinion on them still stands since the fact remains they were rather dishonest. Thoughts on this, everyone?
~CKOanime and I were talking last night, lamenting about how art woes and the like, when we got to talking about artist alley and how it's gotten to be increasingly negative in some aspects when he mentioned that someone had bought up as many as fourteen tables at Otakon as a means to sell her artwork (and I use that rather loosely).
I'm sure some of you know who I'm talking about. For those still in the dark, I'm referring to Amuria and Ramy, both of whom are very well-known...illustrators...here.
They bought up all those tables by registering the names of familars and had said familiars sit by one of the tables and falsely claim that the work they were selling was their own. They wound up screwing over much more deserving artists out of getting a table for the con and even went so far as to offer their tables to other artists for $200.
Seriously, what the fuck. These people are not artists but selfish, desperate hacks who took things too far, and I honestly think that it reflects poorly on them--nobody who respects their art and talents would do such a desperate publicity stunt. I always felt that Artist Alley was more community-minded and the competitiveness was at a healthy level.
I may be feeding the attention whores here, but I felt that the word must go out about these people--there is no reason their "work" should be supported because they are clearly not good people, and they only care more about what's in their customers' wallets than the customers themselves. I'll even go so far as to say that they're an utter insult to the AA; even here. I honestly hope action will be taken against them, and I'll even do my part if I am able to.
Well; they're certainly getting the extra publicity, but not the way they may have wanted.

There was no need for it at all greedy selfish whores, hope they get their comeuppance. If I'd been there I'd have boycotted them or something.
I'm still in disgust even now XD.

They have absolutely no integrity, and I find what they did very embarrassing. I would feel like total shit doing what they did. x_X

I also agree that they're very overrated. Frankly, I think their lack of caring isn't limited to their customers; it shows quite blatantly in all their works.
Honestly, they deserve to be shunned by the honest, hard-working artists, because what they did was detrimental to what Artist Alley should be about, and they showed their true colours. I hope people will see them for who they really are and let them know that their attitudes and actions are unacceptable.
