...I would've used the original title "Yes, naked ladies are nice, but where all the mens at?!", but it was too long. Rawr.
For the record: I understand that there will always be more female nudes than male, since the female form is considered more "art friendly" (something about curves) and aesthetically pleasing (that point I find debatable, since IMO, each gender are pleasing for their own reasons. But then I'm different like that).
Also: This isn't about yaoi, or how yaoi tends to get taken down on this site. That's another topic entirely, and one that I actually won't go into.
What this *is* about is how it seems to be taboo to post male nudes on this site.
I lurk the Complaints forum from time-to-time (I know; why the hell would I do that? Sometimes there's lulz), and whenever a thread about (femme) porn comes up (which is every other week), I often hear about how the rules about what's allowed as far as nudes go are far more lenient for female nudes than for male. I've seen it mention in some LJ communities that I follow as well, so I believe there is truth to this.
Another that I've read about are how people whose mail nudes get DDs wind up getting hate mail in their notes and messages. Seriously, what the fuck? Are people so offended by the sight of a penis that they actually BAWWWWW and tell of the artist?
It's such a fucking shame that there seems to be this stigma about male nudes. They may not be everyone's cup of tea but for fuck's sake; don't chew someone out just because they see the beauty in the male form and wanted to share that. I won't say "don't like it, don't look" as I feel it's such a flimsy saying, but show some respect. The penis didn't do anything to you; it didn't go out from the monitor and cockslap you, so don't get all into RAAAGGEE mode when you see a photo or a drawing of a man's naughty bits.
The male form is a beautiful thing, too. I just am so tired of this fucktarded belief that male nudes are degrading towards masculinity or whatever outdated closet homophobic bullshit way of thinking drives this backlash against the male nude. People need to take their double-standards and shove it.
So, yeah. That's my peeve. I would love to see some more male nudes on this site, but it just seems that people find such a thing offensive, and I just don't get why. I am gonna do my part, and that's to create more artwork that shows the beauty in the male form. Guys, I'd start taking bets to see how long it will take before I get banned for it.

As someone who dotes over male characters and finds them the most interesting creature ever... I have to agree with all of this.. but it also makes me want to break into a rant my friend *Milkycat had, where drawings of NON-FICTIONAL characters so much as kissing while bare shirted get deleted/removed, but pictures of shorn vagina-clad whores in PHOTOS get away Scot-free.

I can understand images of children in suggestive display being taken down, but that isn't always the case although a lot of the "waah no fair my male nudity was removed" complaints do have to do with the fact the subjects were children.
As long as it's labeled mature and is tasteful I really fail to see why it would be touched. If it's merely users complaining to the point that it is taken down, this site really needs some moderators with backbones. The users shouldn't be able to bend the rules much less intimidate the moderators into making the site how they want it.

I remember hearing at one point they were going to make it standard practice to put a mature label on just topless males. Course that went over like a lead balloon. Like others have said most of this has pretty much stemmed from idiots who can't handle looking at a male nude or automatically associate it with yaoi. And so long as there are narrow minded people out there the problem will continue. =/
