EDIT 2/2009: I think it's safe to say that this has run its course and we've had our lulz and drama and the occasional slowbie that thinks this is actually serious and needs to seriously lighten up. If you must flame me for this, then note me so I can use it in a later comic for the sole purpose of making fun of you. For those of you who enjoy it, thank you.
Based on unfortunately but hilariously true events.
I won't go into what inspired this as half of you already know and the rest of you can peek my journal for clues, but this strip in particular came to be when I was laughing about the incident in my journal, and =PSOWILL said he'd pay me to do something similar involving the Naruto fandom. I told him I'd do it for free.
FOR THE RECORD, this is not an anti-yaoi comic as I myself dabble in homoerotic arts, but rather the point is that shippers in fandoms are fucking scary and the levels of which they take their fanaticism over a fictional, non-canon pairing is beyond demented and sad. Seriously, if you get so worked up over the fact that a pairing you love isn't canon, your priorities are fucked up and you deserve whatever mockery you get.
LOL EDIT 8/7: I will admit outright that yes; making a generalisation implying that shippers as a whole are fuckingscary was rather careless on my part. Amazingly enough, nobody has called me on that, which leads me to believe that they knew I didn't mean all shippers. However, I thought I should openly admit that what I was there was a bit of a generalisation, and I'd like to go on the record that I had meant to direct that statement towards the more obsessed shippers who would go so far as to boycott a series and believe the creators hate them and will scream at anyone that disagrees with them. But nowhere do I say that non-canon/fanon pairings are dumb! As for the "demented and sad" comment (aside from being a Breakfast Club reference ), I am merely stating that these words aren't enough to describe the levels of obsession and fanaticism, as well as the over-reaction that are displayed by some of these fans.
...right, then. If you're gonna flame me, go right on ahead. I'll be calling the WHAAAAAAAmbulance to assist you.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
